Burry Port and Pemberton Arms

About

This is a moderate trail that takes you through woodland, fields and the beach. The route takes you past various landmarks, panoramic views, and various wildlife. Wildlife confirmed sightings on this trail include foxes, grey squirrels, rabbits, lizards, common seals, sandmartins, oystercatchers, jays, and many other birds.

It starts at the local bar/restaurant, The Pemberton Arms, then travels up The Old Tramway and takes in the site of the old colliery and stack. You will follow some small paths through quiet woodlands and crosses a small stream, which finally leads to an old mill house in the woods.

The trail then heads upward and comes out at the top of Dolau Fan hill, where you'll have lovely, panoramic views of Burry Port Harbour and Cefn Sidan.

Then head downhill, on the only street part of the walk. Go through the Memorial Park and head to the Afon woodland area, with several ponds and walkways to explore.

The trail takes you past the Sandworks, around the headland and past the sand dredger, then onto Burry Port beach. Follow the trail off the beach and past some small lakes and wooded areas, back through the Old Tramway and return for a drink at The Pemberton Arms.
