Dolaucothi and River Cothi Circular

Note: some sections of this route don’t follow a clear path. Make sure to download the map beforehand and keep an eye on navigation as you make your way around.
The trail starts from the Dolaucothie Woodland car park, across the road from the Dolaucothi Gold Mines, the only known Roman goldmine in Britain. It’s possible to book a tour to explore these mines, so make sure to check guided tour times beforehand.
Follow the path around the caravan park and along the River Cothi before crossing the bridge to continue across the surrounding grassland and up the hill slopes.
Enjoy the beautiful views of the Welsh countryside from the top of the hill, where you’ll trace the edge of the fields before descending the slope to return to the car park.
Come prepared with the appropriate footwear, as some sections of the route may be muddy after rainfall.
