Dolaucothi Parkland Walk

About

Note that this route involves a short section of walking along a country lane to make your way back to the car park. Those preferring to avoid this can make this an out and back instead by heading back the same way after reaching Pumsaint.

This is a lovely trail through the grounds of the Dolaucothi mansion, meandering along the river and through the grasslands and woodlands of the estate.

The trail starts from the Dolaucothie Woodland car park, across the road from the Dolaucothi Gold Mines, the only known Roman goldmine in Britain. It’s possible to book a tour to explore these mines, so make sure to check guided tour times beforehand.

Follow the path around the caravan park and along the River Cothi before crossing the bridge to continue across the surrounding grassland and sections of woodland to Pumsaint. Reaching the road, you could make a short detour to visit the pub for refreshments before following the road back to the car park.

Please take extra care on the road walking sections of this route. The section along the main road has pavement, but as you turn into the smaller lane leading back to the car park, there is no pavement, so take care of any oncoming traffic.
