Carreg Cennen Castle

About

Built towards the end of the 13th-century, probably one of Edward 1's baron JohnGiffard, Carreg Cennen Castle sits high above the Riven Cennen with commanding views across the Brecon Beacons.

The Beacons Way long-distance trail passes nearby if you are looking for a good, challenging hike.

There is an entrance fee to enter the castle, and it is closed after dark, so it is worth checking the website for opening times and ticket information. That said, the walk is worth it just to see the castle from the outside and admire the surrounding countryside.

There is also a lovely cafe near the trailhead, a great place to stop for some refreshments after your walk.

As always in this area, some stretches of trail can get a little muddy, so waterproof footwear is advised.
