Derwen Blue Trail [CLOSED]
About
• Long Term Closure: As of July 2025, this area is closed indefinitely. For more information, please visit https://naturalresources.wales/days-out/places-to-visit/south-west-wales/brechfa-forest-byrgwm/?lang=en
This trail is a blue mountain biking route starting from the Byrgwm car park, where you’ll first follow the Green Trail before continuing with the Blue Trail extension. The route involves steady climbs and descents as you wind through the beautiful Brechfa Forest, which covers 6500 hectares of woodland. This area was once an ancient forest called Glyn Cothi Forest, which became a Royal Forest in 1283 and was heavily used as timber in the Forest World War.
There are several way-marked mountain biking routes in this area of the forest. Please take particular care on the shared paths.
