Millennium Coastal Path

About

The Millennium Coastal Path is a relatively flat, surfaced, traffic-free, multi-user route that leads along the Carmarthenshire Coast from Loughor to Pembrey. It offers wonderful views of the Lougher Estuary and the Llanrhidian Sands. The path is easy to navigate, as it is also part of the Wales Coast Path.

As this is a point-to-point route, remember to arrange transport beforehand to bring you back to the start at the end.

The trail starts in Loughor, where you’ll cross the Loughor Bridge and follow the coastal path into the Llanelli Wetland Centre, a nature reserve with lakes, lagoons, and streams, where you’ll be able to spot a variety of birdlife, including flamingos.

After exploring the wetland reserve, head around Machynys Golf Course, along the edge of town, and continue parallel to the South Wales Main Line. You’ll pass the Pwll Lagoon Local Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve that is particularly rich in plant life and birdlife.

Continue along Tywyn Bâch and pass Burry Port Harbour before ending at Pembrey Country Park. This park encompasses 202 hectares of parkland along a beautiful sandy beach, offering stunning views of the Gower peninsula across the water and over Carmarthen Bay.
