Pitton to Worm's Head

About

The causeway and trail to Worm's Head can only be accessed during low tide. Crossing information can be found at the Information Point near the start of the causeway as well as further information on the island from the lookouts who man the station. The Outer head cannot be accessed from March to October as the seabirds are nesting during this time. Some of the wildlife at Worm's Head include Razorbills, Guillemots and Grey Seals. Other points of interest are the local caves and ship wrecks and an anchor of the Samuel can be found near the causeway at low tide which was carrying coal from Swansea and crash on the rocks in 1884

Attempting to cross the causeway when flooded during high tide is very dangerous and could be fatal. The Gower Peninsula has a very high tidal difference so caution needs to be taken and all local information and advise needs to be followed.

This route also requires rocky scrambles so may not be suitable for all walkers.
