Craig yr Aber Circular

About

This trail takes you through the beautiful woodland valley of Craig yr Aber, a hidden gem in South Wales, just outside of Bridgend.

Start along New Road in Craig Yr Aber and follow the meandering Nant Craigyraber into the woodland. The trail uses good paths, starting out on gravel paths and later a couple of footpaths that can get muddy after rainfall or in winter, so come prepared with the appropriate footwear.

The path steadily ascends the western slope of Mynydd Ty-talwyn before crossing the two streams, allowing you to enjoy the sights and sounds of the rushing water. Follow the footpath along the valley floor back to the trailhead.

There is a beautiful smell of pine from the trees as you get to the top of the track. You might be able to find wild raspberries on the trail in abundance in the autumn.

It’s a nice and easy-to-follow walk that is suitable for children and is dog-friendly, making for a lovely family outing. You may be sharing the paths with cyclists, so keep an eye out for one another.
