Strumble Head Circular
About
This is a somewhat challenging but beautiful trail taking in great views, scenic paths, and historic sites as you make your way round.
Starting in a small gravel car park, the trail heads along the inland path over the open countryside before joining the coastal path between Pen Globo and the shingle and pebble beach of Porthsychan Bay.
The trail then winds along the cliffs and headlands where you can keep an eye out for seals and dolphins, passing Strumble Head Lighthouse, and offering amazing views on a clear day.
The trail ends by climbing steeply to the site of the ancient hill fort of Garn Fawr dating to the Iron Age period. From this vantage point you can enjoy the last of the views before returning to the car park.
This trail includes very steep and rough paths along exposed cliffs where great care is needed with footing, especially in wetter and windy conditions. This trail is therefore best attempted in calm, clear, and dry weather.
Appropriate footwear, warm layers, water, and sun protection are required for this trail. There may also be livestock along the paths so please be aware and come prepared for possible diversions.
