Shell Cottage and Dobby's Grave

Freshwater West is a mecca for Harry Potter fans, as this is where Dobby the house elf died and was buried. His “grave” is on the dunes. This is also where Shell Cottage stood. This is a fragile landscape to please treat with care.

Freshwater West is one of the top surfing locations in Wales. It has a strong swell and currents so is not suitable for beginners or inexperienced swimmers.

This beautiful beach has an extensive number of dunes along the edge of the beach. The sand dunes are fragile and under protection, so no camping or barbecuing is allowed in this area.
